Animation producer Walter Lantz, most famous as the creator of Woody Woodpecker, ran his television unit at the present site of Laser Pacific. Here he arranged the distribution of his old theatrical shorts to broadcasters. He also handled contracts for commercial animation. Alfred Hitchcock and his crew came to Bodega Bay and the inland Bodega in 1962 to shoot "The Birds." An infamous scene in which birds gather on school grounds before attacking the children was filmed at the Potter Schoolhouse, now a private residence.
